Design Exchange Auction Win: EQ3 Assembly Candleholders
These shapely items debuted last January at the Interior Design Show in Toronto as part of the Assembly capsule collection for EQ3. They are candleholders by Toronto designer Dylan McKinnon. I'm fond of EQ3 — some great individual pieces, Canadianness and excellent creative direction — and I liked almost everything in the Assembly collection.
Fast forward to this spring when I spied them at the silent auction to benefit the Design Exchange here in Toronto. the second annual event is becoming a must on the Toronto design calendar but this year was my first year attending. Tout le monde was present and there were some serious design pieces up for auction. When I spied these lovelies there were no bids on the sheet yet so I wrote down a bid, signed my name and then hoped. I got them! YAY! I'm feeling extra lucky to have snapped them up because I see they have already disappeared from the EQ3 web site.
After I got them home and thoroughly enjoyed the unboxing process I studied them to consider their design pedigree. To me they call to mind these design greats.
Recently I had some fun experimenting with styling and photos. I think the simpler shot with the smoke is my favourite.
Best Candle Shop in Toronto
By the way, in case you are wondering where these cool black candles come from I'm happy to let you in on my secret source. Candle Emporium at 99 Yorkville Ave. has been my go-to for candles since the beginning of my styling years. They have everything you could want and many things you didn't know you wanted. When I went in looking for 3-5 candles to try in my new holders I came out with prob more like 12. Here's a quick tour.
