Gilles & Boissier Escape to Biarritz

In Paris, Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier live like this. You've probably seen this place — it's been making the rounds on the blogging and Pinterest circuit for about 2 years. It does not get old. Still fills me with Paris apartment feels and desires. Fun fact: My pals at South Hill Home are the Canadian source for those fantastic Gilles & Boissier sconces made by Pouenat, which have been often-imitated. These are the originals and you previously spotted them on The Design Edit in this bathroom designed by Montréalaise Geneviève Ghaleb.

And just in case you were wondering, here's what Gilles (right) and Boissier look like, because of course they do.

Here's the setting of their getaway on the Basque coast where they like to play golf, surf and decorate. Yes please, yes please and yes please. 

Their place is a total charmer on the outside with red shutters that immediately make me want to change my mind about painting the red shutters on our Whale Cottage on Prince Edward Island. Let's take a peek inside:

The main living area is clad in unfinished cedar. The kitchen is hiding behind the pair of doors on the left.

Large artwork in the main living area is by Christian Astuguevieille. Lamp and tabouret are by the designers. The gorgeous rope and wood chair is a flea market find.

Cabinetry in raw cedar echoes the walls. The lamp is concrete.

The dining area features table and chairs by the designers. The sconce and chandelier are by Christian Astuguevieille.

The heavenly outdoor terrace features a killer vintage rattan set  — also flea market finds.

The kitchen hides magically. I like this so so so much. I have NEVER been a fan of the totally open kitchen.
